Smt. Margaret Alva assumed the charge of Governor of Rajasthan
Smt. Margaret Alva has been sworn-in as Governor of Rajasthan on 12th May 2012. Sh. Arun Mishra, Chief Justice, High Court of Rajasthan administered the oath of the office at a brief ceremony at Raj Bhawan, Jaipur. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, several ministers and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Born on April 14, 1942 in Karanataka, Ms Alva was holding Govenor's post in Uttarakhand since July 2009. Alva who has distinction of being the first woman governor of Uttarakhand, has become the third woman governor in this state.President Pratibha Devisingh Patil and then later Prabha Rau had held the post of Governor in this state.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Radhey Shyam Sharma has greeted her Excellency and the Chancellor, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Rajasthan Ayurved University, Jodhpur on assuming the charge. Prof. Sharma met her in the Rajbhawan, Jaipur and informed her excellency about the functioning of the University and progress made so far.
